Richard
MacLean: Team LeaderRichard currently serves as Club Secretary for the Rotary Club of Ballard. He has also served as that club's International Chair and Programs Chair. He has participated in the GSE program arranging vocational days for incoming teams. Richard has been involved in international education, training and exchanges for more than 20 years. He currently serves as President of Global Education Services. He is also finishing his doctorate in Educational Leadership at Seattle University. In 2003 he received a post-graduate certificate in Higher Education Management from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education. Richard received his MA in Rhetoric and Composition from Western Washington University where is study with Annie Dillard, the writer-in-residence and winner of the Pulitzer Prize in Literature. His undergraduate studies were in Epistemology at Seattle Pacific University. Richard is married, and has traveled in France and looks forward
to a visit to the Normandy region. |
Lisa
BalleauxLisa Balleaux is a Clinical Researcher in Experimental Pathology at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. Her research focus is the genetic analysis of Leukemia in its many manifestations. She is also an affiliate of Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, where she is privileged to work with doctors from all over the world. Lisa is a native of Seattle Washington, and received her BS in Biology from Washington State University in 1997. She feels fortunate to have grown up in a town so open to new ideas and cultures. She enjoys attending and promoting community art programs through UPC Fellowship of the Arts, and is an avid hiker and tri-athlete.

Sally
GeeSally Gee spends her days as the Assistant Director of Continuing Dental Education at the University of Washington, where she coordinates marketing efforts and plans continuing education events for dental professionals. A Seattle native, Sally grew up in Edmonds and went on to receive a BA in History and French Literature from the University of Washington. She spent the two years following university in the Champagne region of France honing her French skills while participating in a theological training program with humanitarian efforts in Eastern Europe, including Hungary and Albania. Sally continues to share her passion for other languages, cultures, and travel. She travels many times a year discovering new places and meeting new people, she has taught English as a Second Language and Cultural Immersion to individuals new to the United States, and she volunteers as a tour guide and travel course presenter at Seattle's Hosteling International. Sally has a great appreciation for the French language, people, and culture, and is thrilled to be a part of this year's Rotary cultural exchange program.
When not traveling, Sally enjoys
reading, baking and films. |
Kimberly
StewartKim was raised in Lindenhurst, Long Island, New York. She headed west for college and earned her degrees in French and Spanish from the University of Colorado at Boulder. After graduating, Kim completed internships with the U.S. Commercial Service at the American Embassies in Paris and Madrid. After returning to the States, she moved to Seattle and applied her language skills to develop the Latin American market for PhotoDisc, Inc.. Kim now serves as the Direct Marketing Manager, The Americas for Getty Images, Inc. She is also currently enrolled in the evening-MBA program at Seattle University. |
Martha
WineMartha Wine (Marty) is a Principal Associate at Berk & Associates, where she consults with government and non-profit agencies to address regional policy issues and questions. Her current projects involve local strategic planning, public-sector financial analysis and facilitation of public meetings, with clients including city, county, and state government and non-profit agencies in Washington. Her work has focused on leading and supporting projects that provide financial, planning and programming advice to public and non-profit agencies. Before joining Berk & Associates, Marty was a budget analyst at the City of Bellevue and King County; an executive policy analyst for the King County Executive; and an administrative assistant for a member of the Washington State House of Representatives. Marty has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Western Washington University and a Master of Arts in Public Administration from Seattle University. Marty is a 32-year resident of the Northwest (with a short break living in Asia as a youth), now married and living in Renton, Washington with her husband and two cats. She enjoys quilting, gardening, hiking, biking, and cooking. |
Louis
Pujalet: Alternate Team LeaderLouis is a retired publishing executive and printshop owner. After 37 years in that profession, he and his wife retired in North Bend, Washington. Lou has a journalism degree from Stanford University. He has been a member of Rotary for 18 years, serving as Treasurer, Sergeant at Arms and a Director of the Snoqualmie Valley Rotary Club. Before that, he was a member of the Metro Honolulu Rotary Club, and served as President and a Director. Louis has been very involved in a variety of community and business organizations, is married, and fluent in French. |
Lisa
Hake: AlternateLisa Hake spent her childhood in North Jersey, her adolescence in the Chicago suburbs, and moved to Seattle after receiving a BA from Indiana University in 1989. She spent 10 years working in nonprofit development and administration for a variety of organizations in Seattle, ranging from international health assistance to social services for foster children. Five years ago she returned to graduate school, obtaining a Master of Arts in Counseling from Seattle University in 2003. She now works as a Geriatric Mental Health Specialist for Seattle Mental Health in Bellevue, providing counseling and case management to older adults living with mental illness. Lisa maintains a strong commitment to community service. She has volunteered at health clinics serving low-income populations, at agencies supporting people living with HIV, and at day care centers for abused children. She also enjoys walking around Greenlake with friends, swing dancing, swimming, yoga, and staying home with a good novel. |
