Policy Consultant

Born in New York of Czech immigrant parents, I spent much of my childhood and many of my early adult years living in Germany where my father's career took the family.  I came to Seattle in 1978 and earned a master's degree in public administration from the University of Washington.  I am divorced and my only 'dependent' is my spoiled cat, which is the ruler of the house.  A self-employed consultant for economic development and transportation, I am interested in local politics and current affairs, community volunteer work, gardening, travel, hiking, music and reading.

Systems Analyst

The only team member originally from Seattle, I am an information systems analyst for the region's major bus transportation authority.  I've never been married, but that has perhaps allowed me greater freedom to move about.  International travel is definitely my passion and India is the overseas beginning.  I am also very interested in establishing an international import/export business.  Other interests include reading science fiction and detective novels for pleasure.

Publications Specialist

I am from Portland, Oregon, and have enjoyed two careers in my life.  In the first, I was a forester working in an experimental program to determine why certain animals eat certain trees - and how to prevent them from doing so.  But my passion is writing and now I am a publications specialist for Seattle Pacific University.  Outside of my job, I write adventure novels.  My fifth one was published in February 1999.  My greatest joys in life are my wife Cheryll and our two sons and two daughters.  I am a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and enjoy hiking, canoeing, speaking at writer's conferences and reading.

External Business Development

I was born and raised in San Diego, California, and hold a degree in Asian Studies from San Diego State University.  Long fascinated with Asia, I spent nearly four years living in Japan and traveling throughout SE Asia and Australia.  While in Japan, I worked for a Japanese trading company in the apparel division and was an English teacher.  Now I work for Nordstrom, a national department store based in Seattle.  My job is external business development for the Callaway Golf Apparel Division.  At Nordstrom Product Group we import textiles, gifts, apparel and footwear from all over the world.  I also enjoy scuba diving, running and travel.

GSE Team Leader

Though born in New York State, I actually grew up in India, the son of Christian missionaries to Burma.  I'm a seminary graduate and served as pastor of several churches before moving into the field of leadership development.  Once married, I have four children and four grandchildren and, of course photos to prove it.

In addition to my activities as a Rotarian, I am a member of MENSA International and of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.  Some of my favorite things are bicycling, photography and spending time in India.
